Thanks all. I feel like late 40s, not 60. And maturity-wise, a lot less than that!
When I turned 50, which I believe was roughly 10 years ago, it was no big deal. But 60 actually feels like a milestone. And I'm gonna go for Social Security at 62, unless they change the age-eligibility rules on me in the next two years. But politically that is probably not gonna happen--too many pissed-off geezers having it snatched away from them at the last minute.
Yeah John, I've noticed that if you keep living you eventually get older. Sorta sneaks up on a person.
Collegeboi, I have not achieved what I want in life, because to me it's about the process more than specific accomplishments. But that said, "the process" involves keeping me constantly stimulated, so I am driven to learn new things. Nine languages, a state chess trophy, lots of reading, and currently MMA, believe it or not. But this isn't specifically the MMA you see on TV; it's a combination of kali, silat, jun fan gungfu, kickboxing, muay thai, with a bit of Brazilian jujitsu and other groundfighting thrown in. I've studied various martial arts off and on since I was 17.
You continue to learn, you stay young (at least inside). You stop, you die.Last edited by TominMO; 07-01-2010, 07:38 AM.90 Festy (Larry)--B6M (Matt D. modified B6 head), header, 5-speed, Capri XR2 front brakes, many other little mods
