  • Capri for under $500... should I get it or not?

I have access to a capri in good running condition for under $500.

Should I snag it? What all can I transfer to a festy? Engine, tranny, brakes...? Should I just keep it whole and flip it?

Get it and swap the festiva! Engine, trans, front brakes can be swapped over.

is it the turbo one? if yes then its a deal!!! if no then its not really worth it IMO... unless there is alot of good usable parts on it....

Engine and tranny swap would still be a very noticeable upgrade. Scrap what's left and you can purchase the FMS mounts for the B6D. Axles are the useable with trans too I believe.

Theres nothing better to have than an entire donor car. B6T swap with G25MR and all your axles/intermediate shaft... all the wiring... etc.

                Its well documented.

I used the Xr2 front brakes on my festy. Theyre awesome. Theres even a bigger brake upgrade for them that gets rid of the rotor-behind-hub crap.

Only problem is it keeps the stock bolt pattern and if you want a rear brake upgrade the only documented upgrade is aspire, which means different bolt pattern in the rear.

Anyway, yeah, $500 for a running Xr2 is a steal.

alas, but it is not an xr2, and turns out to not be in as great of shape as I had been lead to believe...

So what fun thing(s) could be done with a $400 normally aspirated Capri with 165,000 miles on it?

Rebuild the NA B6T for turbo use. Part out the car.

Maybe use the F series trans.

Brake upgrade. Some base capris got the xr2 10.3 inch brakes. Some only have 9 inch brakes that are still a huge upgrade for a festy.
