  • Bought a $100 festiva today

I found a festiva on Craigs list For $100 . They told me a ball joint went out so they put new LCAs on it. Shortly after that something happened to the front end again and it was making a terrible scrapping noise. They had to limp the car home on the shoulder at 25 MPH and parked it as they were scared to drive it any more. Sure enough it was making a horrible noise. Took a look under the car and found this

The backing plate had come off the front knucke and was laying on the brake disk. Yanked it out and problem was solved, no tools needed.

Drove it home ( 40 Miles ) without issue. A/C worked good. 140,000 miles nice running motor and smooth tranny. Came with two extra tires and two dash mats. Has four good tires newer battery, timing belt has been replaced. The PO had owned it since 1992

      Stivadiva, look/sound familiar?

      Fresh,
Great deal, want to make $400 over your cost, been looking for AC in a 5spd for a while.
Don't really want white, but with AC I could get used to it.

      PM me if you want.

Nice snag, Fresh! Kind of hard to beat the price, especially considering the ease of the fix.

                dash mat modification

You will have to cut holes in those dash mats if you want to see the time on the dash clock.

                              Hey,

All I can say is I'm really glad you beat the junkers to it! Most of those guys don't even check to see if a car is easily repairable. Its on the trailer , off with the gas tank , and into a scrapyard .I don't blame them its how they make money , but it would have been a tragedy with this one. Grats on a great score, next one you find is mine right? hehehe
