Just a thought about how involved($$$$) to get into an older car knowing that a buckled hood or wasted bumper or fender will total the thing out. I don't do alot of my own work, so I think I'm "behind the eight ball" when it comes doing a mini restore from a cost prospective. I like different cars (Peugeot 504, Opel Manta, Saab 96, Fiat SuperBrava), but having to see them crunched or selling them for tons less then you put into them is a tough thing. Following your muse can be expensive.... But stepping back after a great drive or finding that elusive part or piece you just scored is undeniably addictive.
