  • Finally Might Get My Festiva Back! v.rustedcoresupport

My Festiva has been out of commission because my radiator core support decided to rust and break off a few months ago. The position where it broke off is where the drivers side sway bar attaches.

I purchased a very nice front clip from FestivaWES that PU241 graciously picked up in Missouri and delivered to my place in Ohio.

After numerous attempts to find a welder to put the new core support on, I think I finally found someone! We're shooting for next weekend and he's charging $100 less than previously $350 estimated by someone else.

I'm crossing my fingers in hopes that everything goes as planned so I can have my beloved Festiva back on the road!

Anyways, here's some pictures of the damage:

    Driver's side:

Passenger's side (still in decent shape):

Lastly a picture of my baby:

Honestly, that is the only bad spot for some reason. The rest of the car is actually pretty clean for the most part.

I'm going to leave that up to the welder to figure out. I'm not very mechanically inclined.

I'm assuming cut out the lower radiator core support and put the new one back in its place. Then reinforce the side apron as well so it's structurally sound (or as much as it can be).

Any suggestions, comments, or concerns are appreciated though.

I'm more scared to drive my new car in the winter than my Festiva. I have it equipped with studded snow tires. It's a beast and unstoppable. That's the main reason I'm trying to get it fixed. That, and also it's the best pizza delivery car ever made

I'll take as many pictures as I can. I'm not sure if I will be present the whole time the repair is happening.
