Since my understanding is that 89 automatics were FI'd, it'd be interesting to see what one of them has. I don't own any automatics (if I want doggy performance, I'll go get another 70hp Metro automatic and enjoy 0 to 60 in half a minute).
well I have an 89 auto out in the drive...I will look at it.
But as far as performance...I do not think that my 92 auto is all that bad and the 89 is even better. True it is no 5 speed but mine is great I think.

GenevaDirt, I wasn't criticizing Festy automatics in particular; I've never even driven one.
A few years ago while working in Miami for a bit, I couldn't find a drivable Festy in all of Florida, so picked up a Metro, only to firesale it after a couple months.

lol....I didn't think that...I was just making a statement that I like my auto. I still love the 5 speed too.

Yes, I changed photos. The side shots are much clearer.

Why you didn't know this, Festiva? Your're a newbie with a mere 9,972 posts. Oncce you get up toward the 20,000 mark, maybe you'll know a bit more.

If the wimpy tiedowns are only on the carb'd Festivies, so be it. With their 5hp less power, they probably aren't the best candidates for trailer pulling in the first place. Maybe the manufacturer designed it that way intentionally to discourage trailer usage until the high-hp models came along!

I doubt it. Although I learn something everyday I forget two things I knew. Guess I never really paid that much attention to the tie downs before. I went and looked at my 89 Autos and they are the same as the ones you show in the picture.

My '89 auto has the "new style" tie downs and a hitch attached to them.

                Drawtite brand/ reese style.

Freshtiva, are you saying that your 89 auto has the "old style" tiedowns? If so, and lessersivad has the "new style," that would say there was a mid-year switchover, perhaps not even related to whether it's manual or auto.

Does anybody have an 89 manual who can tell us which style tiedowns you have? We're calling "old" the wimpy "wire" ones and "new" the big stamped ones with two holes in them.

Freshtiva, have you decided whether you can sell me a hitch, and for how much? My 1000-pound 4'x8'x4' crate is going on a barge in Los Anchorage today, and will show up here in Seattle in a week. I need a way to pick it up at the port 40 miles away, else pay a local trucker through the nose.

Picked up a new trailer today . 4' X 6' with wire mesh floor and nine inch side rails. It tilts too. The trailer weights 250lbs and has a 1750 payload capacity. Tow it home at 70MPH plus. Hardy knew it was back there.

Also bought this dirt scoop from the Kubota dealer today so it will be my first load.

                              Nice trailer!

That's about what I'd like to get. Maybe used from CL. Or maybe from Andersons or Home Depot. Sometimes they are on sale.
