  • Is this engine a B6T?

My neighbor brought home a 1991 Mazda Protege 323. I took pics of the engine, and am wondering if it is a B6T. It says variations of B6 all over it, and although my neighbor may be wrong, he claims its a turbo.

But I've no way to post the pics (since the pics are not on a server). Can I email them to someone to take a look at?

I'd like to know if I need to snatch up the car ASAP!

That should be the B8, a 1.8 SOHC with 16 valves. I got a 5 speed TB off one of those and put it on my B6 ATX install. I thought it was the 1.6 SOHC 16 valver at first because I didn't realize the B8 was 16 valves.

Clearly noooo turbo in that pic.

Thanks for the input. In retrospect, the big "16 valve" emblazoned on top of the engine might have been a good clue...

And thanks to ShadyRacing for telling me how to get a pic onto a posting.

            Have a great day, everyone!
