  • Cmaera mount question

Does anyone here know of a good "Dash" mount for a cam corder?
I'm not looking for the 3lb rubber one, or the 0lb foam rubber one.
The one I have is just a piece of mild steel strap with holes drilled in it,
two for the screws that hold it to the dash and one for the camera screw.
I'll post pics tomorrow, It's shaky (understatement)
and the camera keeps focusing on the windshield at night instead of what's outside the car.
Should I just try heavier gauge steel or what?
    Any help is appreciated,
    Thanks in advance,
    J

The way you have it now will amplify the vibrations from your car! If you were to get one more peice of that same metal, and go forward with it (make a triangle), you would cut down on the vibration a lot!

What you have now is a spring! like a diving board, lol!

Heres a mount I saw in a nelson racing engine video. They used a dual suction cup handle with a couple of hose clamps. It's towards the end of the video.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2sI7t...eature=related

I've seen people use a harness bar to mount cameras. You can make a "harness bar" from a length of electrical conduit mounted to the top mount of your manual seat belts. If your car has automatic belts, I think the mounting hole still exists (just not used). Don't use it to for a harness though!

          Something like this:

Here's what i ended up doing,

Took one of the fans that they sell at walmart that you mount to your dash.
Took the mount from that and stuck on the head from a cheapie tripod,
using a bolt and faucet washers.

Thanks again to you guys for the advice,
            J
