  • Urgent Festiva help needed - Anyone near Culpeper VA?

SafetyGuy is in Culpeper VA and his Festiva won't start. He thinks it's fuel problems, either the fuel pump relay or the MAF, most likely. He doesn't have internet where he is and his phone is not getting good reception. He called me and will call back this evening.

Is there anyone near there who could help him? If so, call me 919 497-6205 and I can help hook you up with him.

    Thanks, Barb

Hey Barb - I'll try calling you in a few minutes when I can use the phone; my family is in from PA and I'm obliged to join them for dinner, but I can run up there later tonight. I can take a VAF, fuel pump, etc with me as well. Its about 2.5 hours so I won't be able to arrive until pretty late - if you can talk with him at all see what would work best for him and ask if there is anything else I should bring.

Thanks Nate, I tried his phone and it goes straight to voice mail. Will try again in a while. I thought about you, but didn't know how close you were or if there was anyone closer.

These two seem to be missing each other. Anybody else close by?
Also, anyone know of a junk yard in the area that might have Festiva parts?
Karl is supposed to leave tomorrow. He's hoping to track down parts and get his car running again so he can head home on Monday.

Let me know. I have contact numbers.

Looks like 92festy is in Martinsburg, WV, about 100 miles from culpeper, VA.
He was last on this morning.
He may or may not have read this thread.
I have his number and will pass it to Karl and Nate.

Also scaned the FIT spreadsheet no one comes closer than 92festy

True, and perhaps if you hadn't decided to "abuse" a member who obviously wasn't sure he should be putting his personal info on that list it might have gone some where.
I couldn't have been the only one to have seen the "chat" messages you were typing!
I know it made my mind-up about signing on.

We'll get SafteyGuy whatever he needs to get back on the road.
If you want to help feel free.

Perhaps you could refresh my mind on this "abuse" via PM?

                    Update

Have spoke with SafetyGuy, it seems he isn't getting fuel to the rail.
Cranked the engine a few times with the line to the fuel rail disconnected, no fuel coming through.

                    So possibilities:

                    clogged fuel line

Clogged fuel filter-----------------Replaced a few years ago along with new tank

Bad fuel pump relay---------------Replaced a with a used unit a few month ago when
                    original unit went bad

Tripped fuel cut off switch --------Already checked
Clogged fuel sock ----------------Replaced with new sock when replaced tank
Dead fuel pump ------------------Oem unit never replaced

I think there is a connector under the hood that can be used to by pass the fuel pump relay.
Anyone know if this is true and where it is located if so?

I didn't ask, it is EFI and given his signature:

'89L "Muttstiva," my pretty yard ornament, soon to be "repurposed"
'92L "Twinstiva" 5sp, my future project
                        '93GL "Luxstiva," '94 B6 engine & ATX
'91L "Muttstiva Junior," my aqua pet (current project to take Mutt's place)

I suppect it is the '93 with the B6 and ATX.
It is EFI is really all we needed.

I THINK it is just off the firewall by the driver side strut tower. Brown switch, two connections? That is what I am a thinking. May not be in time even if I am right...

OK, SafetyGuy has a functioning reactor!
Apparently, the fuel pump wiring was messed with by the PO.
He found this out after installing a new pump.
