  • HID Kits???

Has anyone bought a HID kit for their festiva? I noticed that almost every other post on Ebay is a HID kit. I am thinking about looking into it, but a little skeptical when it comes to evilbay.

Phayz91 has a set in his car. I have a set (not installed) for my car. We had ballast problems with catladykaren's car in the convoy home from N.C. fm4.

I ran a set in Casper with the Kia Pride headlight swap... I had them aimed SUPER low so that I wasn't blinding people (and to boot, when they were installed, not ONE person passing me flashed me).

      They were slick...

Eurotiva has a set on his Aspire. He told me that anything over 5K brightness mostly just puts out heat, and to pay more for that is a waste of money.

5-6000k is a good place to be on the kelvin scale, as it's the whitest light output. higher gets bluer and lower gets yellower. do yourself a favor and spend a little more on the bi-xenon kits out there. they have the abillity to retain your highbeam function AND use the HID bulb at the same time. what they are is a servo activated bulb. it moves in and out to give you hi and low beam, so it's on all the time (no warm up period). Caety (FestYgirl) is getting a set installed into her aspire soon.

If you're looking to spend around $200 on a hi-low beam anyways, go to theretrofitsource.com, pick up some morrimoto mini d2s projectors and sand down your lenses. You'll be much more satisfied with your headlights.

I meant Britstiva, not Eurotiva. Oops!

Well, it's not the best way to go. Honestly, with good clean lenses and good bulbs, incandescent bulbs can outperform HIDs in the same housing.

Part of it is due to the way the light is emitted from the lamps themselves. H4 bulbs have filaments that are perpendicular to the length of the bulb and HID capsules are parallel. H4 bulbs are very particular in their design. The two filaments are in different positions for good reason, the low beam sits under a shield that keeps it from blinding oncoming drivers while the high beam filament sits further back to bypass it and shine bright. Who knows where aftermarket HID capsules sit in the housings, it could be where the high beam filament should be and blind oncoming drivers... let alone with intense HID light, meant to be harnessed by projectors or specially designed reflector housings.

The bi-xenon with high low are a single filament that slides in and out to provide your low or high beam.
I happen to have a kind that has a normal low beam bulb and an hid high beam.....so I am not running hid into oncoming traffic. The difference in the light output is amazing.....so much more clarity when on hid.

I know a few people who have them, love them and swear by them. Have you ever driven past 'yourself' though?

For the money of a 'hi-lo HID kit', you could probably get a pair of bolt in projectors, shrouds, HID kit and clear lenses.

If you want help or to learn more, I'll encourage you to head over to HIDplanet.com

you may have missed that I do not have low beam hid's...only highs....which I do not run when I am approaching people either from behind or oncoming.
