I won a set of 5k imitation HID on Ebay. Waste of money. The low beam is Xenon bulb which gave good White output but the High Beams were the HID type, putting out very little blue light [Totallly useless!]. I went back to Sylvania Silver Stars. I knew I wasn;t going to get true HID lighting but I should of got better output on the High Beams.

I'm looking to do a HID retrofit in the WRX.... Something like this would be ok.

Found complete kits that piece everything together for under $400. Then it's just the work of getting the stuff mounted and aimed right.

simon, all you need is a projector lamp assem.: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2002-...item5d2bf8f62d
then just add the single beam HIDs: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/55W-5...item19c0a01ed8 for low beam and regular halogens for the high beam (flash to pass)
          Trees aren't kind to me...

          currently: 2 88Ls (Scrappy and Jersey), 88LX, 90L(Pepe), 91L, 91GL (Skippy) 93 GL Sport (the Mighty Favakk), 94 (Bruce) & 95 Aspire SEs, 97 Aspire (The Joker),
94 Justy 4WD, 87 Fiero GT, plus 2 parts cars. That's my fleet.

5k is not a blue light....over 6k gets into the blue light....but you want bright white....not blue. Also you have to watch the wattage.....I have seen from 35w to 55w....mine are 55w I believe....turns night into day for me.

I wanted white light since Blue does not light as well. I expected to get both Low Beam & High Beams to be white, instead to High Beams were a very weak blue, which were useless. Mine are only 35W. I guess, that explains the low output  !

35w is all the factory headlights are on beamers, lincoln and other high end HID projector cars.

You need projectors and OEM capsules to get the most out of HIDs.
