What's it worth he asks?
My original owner, stock '93 GL '1300' 5-speed still rolls along getting 41.5 mpg combined, 3 mpg less in colder weather, and cruises nicely at 65-75 mph.
Now retired from winter salt duty at 116,000 mi., and thankfully when new, dealer undercoated with mystery stuff that's still soft and gooey 18 years latter protecting a solid body.
After 2 warranty replacements finally solved the leaky headlight problem myself. And the factory sunroof leak all these years latter. The Mazda 121 is pure genius and quality engineered. Lightweight at 1850 lbs and low 63 HP is exactly what it takes to get great mileage and drive a car to maybe 100 mph +. We may never see this again
due to air bags, extra weight, and the extra HP needed to drive it.
Spacious? I was able to take home a starter kitchen, cabinets and all, years ago with the rear seat folded forward. At 6' 7" there's still headroom a plenty. With seats mounted high so unlike my friend's ol' Honda Civic, one need not gravel to enter the car. What a design coup this Festiva, with a natural disdain for stopping at dreaded gas stations with their "what a cute car," and, "How do you get such a big dog (a Great Dane) in there?" Hmmm, first I open the door...
What's it worth? A classic auto and no longer inanimate friend you've built wonderful memories with, over nearly 2 decades.
Priceless.
