The service manual I have for my WRX shows me 10~ different spots that the VIN is stamped. I'm only aware of 3 on the Festiva; dash, engine bay, and sticker on the door opening.

Why do you need to find all the VIN numbers? Cops and inspection people typically only look at the dash VIN.

some cars have them on every major component. some even have it etched in the glass. My dad had a VW with vin etching on the glass.

is there anything wrong with getting in depth info on your own car?
i found what i was looking for http://429mustangcougarinfo.50megs.com/decoding.htm

so you can mark this as a solve, cause i am just curious about things, so everyday i hear of something or learn something i do ask for second opinions to know facts

For "numbers matching", you only need the dash and firewall VINs.
