This is the only Ford board i'm on, so i hope to get some help here maybe. My freinds 95 Escort has no interment cluster lights. The rest of the lights on and in the car work. But the ones for the gauges dont. Of coarse i've checked the fuse. But from what i hear, this is common on these cars? I was wondering if anyone on here could shed some light on what maybe the cause. If it is common, i guess someone may know where to have me looking first. Thanks for any help!

My Astro van does the same thing. If you hit a bump hard enough they usually come back... LOL... my guess would be a bad ground somewhere behind the dash or in the back of the cluster. Best place to start would be pull the cluster and get the wiring diagram from a Haynes or AZ and see if the HOT wire for the cluster lights is working, and then check the GROUND for the lights. I has the similar problems on my 91 Escort, mine has no cluster lights and climate control lights. turn out to be just a bad light dimmer control.The line up -

My Festiva did this... It was one of the plugs that went into the back of the cluster. I would also have problems with the turn signals and high beam indicator lights not working properly (the high beams and turn signals both still worked, they just didn't light on the cluster).
I ended up using a zip tie to secure the wires tight towards the top of the cluster and it solved the problem.Simon - pimptiva.comComment
