Still wish you could too, but I am not hurt about it. I am trying to convince my wife instead of getting another car payment or a different DD, we should just put my other (3rd) festiva on the road that needs some work as it gets good gas mileage and would save us from more debt for another car. She just can't wrap her head around a vehicle that is 20 years old getting her safely around without worrying about it breaking down. It is annoying really to try and win the argument because it is hard to find parts sometimes, but Festivas are the only cars I have ever owned that I truly trust. ...for the most part.

See my sig for the cars I own, this year though I didn't get to drive my festiva as much as I wanted to, dam insurance companies

Right now my aspire is the daily driver though

        1988 323 Station Wagon - KLG4 swapped
        1988 323 GT - B6T Powered
2008 Ford Escape - Rollover Survivor

1990 Festiva - First Ever Completed KLZE swap (SOLD)

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

My festy is my daily driver and my back up car is also a festiva ha.
I've driven my new BP Festiva over 6,000 miles in the three months I've owned it. It's been great!

Since my '89 Aries went down with head gasket trouble back in 2001 or so I've been driving Festivas except for a few times I borrowed my Dad's van, car or truck.

Right now it's my '92L getting me around but I'm working on Aqua to relieve Twinstiva for winter beater duty--with a B6 and Aspire suspension as "new standard equipment."

            '91L "AquaMutt" my '91L; B6 swap/5 speed & Aspire brakes, DD/work car
'92L "Twinstiva" 5sp, salvage titled, waiting for repairs...

I bought my 92 used in 94 with 45K on it. It's been my daily driver since then and now has 165,000 on it. Still averages 43 MPG. I have been driving for 55 years and I think it is the best car I ever owned. Always fun to drive.

I have at least gotten my wife to agree that we are going to make my one festiva our designated travel vehicle in the non salt months. I need to find one of those North American decals you can fill in the states and provinces we have traveled in it.

Only vehicle no since we have the Escape. The most driven though is the Festiva. Since I have my dad's the wife putputs around in mine. In fact I don't think she'd mine if it stays that way. She says it's more money she can shop with.

Yes, the Festy is my DD, and always has been, save for the four-year period that I sold Saturns and had a demo to drive.

It's at 235k, and it's just worn out. I have at least one rear brake not working, the suspension and clutch are as worn out as you can get and still have it working, it's rusty, etc.

Would need at least $600 of repairs to get it inspected for PA, and even then, what's next to go wrong? It's 22 years old. I've certainly gotten my money's worth out of it, but it's just not worth fixing anymore.

My friend who is a finance manager at a dealer here has a nice '05 Mazda3 hatch w/5-speed, so I put in a loan application for it. I'll hopefully know tomorrow.

If it has boobs or wheels, sooner or later you're going to have trouble with it.

Other than my wife's daily driver (2000 Echo), my Festiva is my only car! I love it and I am never worried (my daily commute is 100 miles!)

John, Not sure what I'm going to do with it after I get a new car. I may keep it and fix it up for a backup, or I may part it out since there are some good parts on it for others to use. I was *thinking* about keeping it, getting it running ok, and making it a permanent convertible; not sure yet.

The thing is very rusty, so extensive repairs would be needed (frame rails, rocker panels, wheelwells, core support, floor pan, bumper mounts, rear suspension attachment points, etc), not to mention body work for dents and small rust areas. ALSO.....it would need ALL new brakes, clutch, wheel bearings and all other suspension components, tires, ALL new hard brake lines, new exhaust, etc. I can't imagine anyone wanting it because it just needs too much.

With all this necessary, I think I would get more for the parts than the entire car! (Center console anyone?!)
