  • Engines swaps done...

This thread got me thinking. What engines and/or transmissions have you personally taken out either to swap or rebuild?

    I'll start things off

    - B6 swap in current Festiva
    - small block Chev out of our old Suburban for a rebuild
    - 5 speed transmission out of '78 Plymouth Sapporo to replace shift forks
    - pulled a 390 from a 64 Galaxie convertible and replaced it with a factory rebuilt 428 (overbored by 40 thou)
    - Swapped a good engine from a wrecked Civic into it in a straight car with a blown engine.

Engine hoists have been rented but I do have an engine stand.

I'm always working on some car. For instance, I just finished an engine swap on my Summit Wagon and the Festy is getting a swap soon also.

1.8 or 2.4? You can build MEAN sleepers out of those things. The 2.4L's are good for high-comp fire-breathing 200WHP no problemo with 11:1 and some huge pipes on either end. Or swap in 1G Eclipse top end with gismos and gadgets and you'll have a turbo monster!

              It's a 4G64. Out of a '97 Galant and I already have plans for a 63 head swap.

Summits are cool. They remind me of a stretched out and vanned up Festiva.

If I had one, I'd probably try to turn it into a "Festiva Vanagon." Confuse everyone!

                Oh...swaps!

I've done one B6 swap into my '93GL ATX "Luxstiva" back in winter, 2006. Bought the B6 already pulled.

Working on my second swap now: a B6 I pulled around four years ago into my '91L Aqua car, a 5 speed.

Total: pulled three B3s out of Festivas; one B6 out of a 323; and soon I'll have done two B6s into Festivas.

                '91L "AquaMutt" my '91L; B6 swap/5 speed & Aspire brakes, DD/work car
'92L "Twinstiva" 5sp, salvage titled, waiting for repairs...
                '93GL "Luxstiva," '94 B6 engine & ATX; needs overhauled

Well, lets see, getting ready to pull and rebuild the Miata engine over christmas break and either put a new engine in the windstar or pull the good trans for use in a future taurus. But I haven't done those yet so they don't count.

Dropped cradle and replaced trans in the wife's Fiero
                    Pulled a B3 from a '92 and then swapped it into a '94 Aspire
                    Replaced trans in '89 Accord
                    Replaced trans in '88 CRX
Swapped an Festiva from auto to stick
Swapped 2 MX6s from auto to stick
Pulled a Z24 engine and wiring harness from a wrecked '88 Nissan pickup
Pulled a KA24 engine from a '93 Nissan pickup and replaced it with the Z24 above
Replaced a transmission in a Taurus
After the above trans blew I pulled the motor out and put it into one with a good trans and blown HG
Swapped a Si motor into a 1.5 Civic hatch (I did none of the wiring, just changed the engine)
Also pulled two 302s out of wrecked pickups for a buddy of mine to have spare engines for his Mustang

And thats about it... for this past year. Doesn't even include the times I've pulled/installed B3, B6, B6D, and BPs. Or the countless other times I've had to replace Taurus transmissions, or any of the other pulls, replacements, rebuilds or swaps I've done over the years. Like so many others have said, too many to count
                    No festiva for me ATM...

just on my red festiva i have done:
                        b3 to b3
                        b3 to b6t
                        b6t t bp

2 motor rebuilds on my friends truck (2005 dodge cummins with twin turbos and other stuff, about 800 hp)

i helped timmay89 with his bp and trans swap sort of lol...

pulled the motor and put it back in in my 323

rebuilt the motor on my escort gt (3 times cause i didnt know what i was doing lol... it was a long time ago...)

3 motor swaps on my moped (about 10 min per swap lol...)

and funny this thread should come up now cause i just got done a motor swap yesterday on a chevy cavalier (for the 2nd time...) last time it took us a few days cause we had so many problems... but this time we got it done in a few hours (but i just got a phone call and the trans seal blew out and guess what, we have to take the motor out for a 3rd time cause you cant take the trans out on its own ....

im sure im forgetting a few but thats all the ones i can remember...
