  • --- HELP --- Festiva was broken into last night!

So they didnt take my sub or amp or stereo. But they punched out my lock and ripped off my antenna! Does anyone near here have an extra antenna, or a drivers side lock with key? I would love to be able to buy one from someone near me!

Also, anyone near me want to help me install an alarm, cause this really sucks!

I have to do some family stuff right now, but I will post pics later today of the damage, and any suggestions would be helpful, as I am totally lost as to how to change the lock and antenna!

    Thanks all

The whole world is filled with thieves and violence. I am looking for a power antenna mast for my baby. I have an extra power antenna motor. Are you planning on installing a manual pull out antenna again? Or, do you want me to get a friend of mine in Germany to look for an extra power antenna mast for you? Manual antennas are so tempting to bend. I still have to figure out how to wire it to automatically retract on radio or ignition shutoff.

Not much you can do about that, Darlo. I've had to break into my own Festiva before, and it only took me about three seconds with a coat hanger and a foam wedge. I'm surprised they went to the trouble of busting the lock when they're so easy to pop through the window weatherstripping!

A family friend said that the early 90s Fords are the easiest cars he breaks into on a regular basis... he works for CAA fyi haha.

Antenna install, brought to you by the venerable Tom: http://www.fordfestiva.com/forums/sh...ntenna+install

As for the door lock, I'd recommend finding someone in a junkyard state, so that you can get a lock set so that you don't have to switch keys for every door. You could leave ignition on the stock key, but switch the three doors as it were for example. Throwing three lock tumblers and a key in a padded envelope is pretty economical. They're pretty easy to change out though... it's just a matter of not having gigantor hands and slippery tools.

        Newbies???
any key can open any festiva door lock.
I had my car broken into a while back, they failed to take my subs and amps.my lock was messed up though.

so if you buy the lock you dont need an extra key, just go to a junk yard, try ur key on a lock and replace it.

              Antenna Swap

Follow the directions of Tominmo, don't worry, it's a simple thing to do. The only thing i did different was on my second antenna swap, i pulled the radio out and taped speaker wire to the antenna wire and pulled it all the way till the speaker wire came out the top of the A pillar, then retaped to the new antenna wire and reversed the process, yup it's that simple. good luck.
An idea can turn to dust or magic, depending on the talent that rubs against it.

i have a spare antenna but no locks... the junkyard could fix that for under 20 bucks... (you could probably get all the locks and the one on the collom for 25 bucks or so...)

Darlo, could I trouble you to check something out for me while you're there?

Row 22... can you check if it's an Escort Pony for me real quick? It'll have no labeling and no options on it... lacking A/C and P/S for example. It'll be a lift/hatch back with no spoiler/fancy bumpers. I'm not sure the transmission I'm looking for can be identified externally though... it has a super groovy F5MR that I would absolutely kill to be in possession of. Don't need you to buy anything, a handful of pictures and five minutes of your time would be splendid though!

Or vice versa Lol, couldn't help myself. I think I have two door locks with a key, if you decide you need them. I'll have to find them first but I can look. I am also pretty sure I have an antenna, but again, I gotta check. Probably be tomorrow or wednesday before I could look for it though, getting my wisdom teeth pulled in exactly one hour! haha
                      No festiva for me ATM...

Breaking into a festiva 101 : No need to tear any thing up. ( Turn your volume down, not sure what the static is ??)

Sure, I will bring my camera when I go, and post a bunch of pics for you. Just to make sure (if there are a couple), what is the colour of the one I am taking pics of?

Not sure if I will make it out there today, but when I do I will make sure to take the pics

I will first check to see if the local pick-a-part has a keyed lock, but if not, that would be AWESOME if you had them.....

                            Thx
