I heard on the tv this morning that in one year gas will be $5 a gallon.

Then remind us when they're wrong, or right.
Predictions of bad things always get media coverage.
People repeating unfounded predictions just make it worse.
Don't suppose there was any reasoning behind the $5/gallon prediction was there?

They also announced on Good Morning America, the other day, that the price of chocolate will be as expensive as caviar!

They say it every year. Some people believe the oil companies "leak out" how much gas is going to cost, to see how much the public cries out. If we don't complain alot, they feel it is safe to keep the raised amount as the average.

Example: Gas goes up to $4.00/gal. We don't complain, then the gas won't drop below $3.25/Gal. ever again.

Nothing to do with a shortage, but oil is currently at $90+/barrel and the value of the dollar is speculated to be going down in 2011. The de-valuation is predicted to be a result of out of control spending, an economy on the verge of a double dip, the rising debt we have as a nation and quantitative easment that has/is being considered by the Fed. Since oil is controlled by speculators, gloom & doom talk is all that's required.

Not saying it's right or wrong, but that's the explanation that is being given. I hope it's all wrong. I think $5/gal is a little on the high side, but I could believe $4.00 is certainly possible again. I'm prepared.....because I cling to my guns, my religeon and my FESTIVA!

also remember that all the oil companies have reported such amazingly high quarters in proffits since they started just raising the price exxon had several 80+ million dollar profit records in the last few years in all honesty gas shouldnt cost more than a buc a gallon or diesel for that matter shouldnt be so high but the worldwide demand is the cost adjuster diesel was always waaaay less than gas then gas went up like a rocket an diesel didnt the oil companies saw more profit to be made an jacked it up too ..its all a government money racket refineries dont do anything different than they did in the 80's i got a friend who works in one its all about profits as with any buisness and they abuse that hell 15 years ago gas was about a dollar a gallon so what in 15 years has made the price go up really is it the war ...no ..katrina ..no...the bp leak ...no its greed an the oil companies using the media an fear to drive profits thru the roof the U.S. is dependent on foreign oil ..hmmm when i drove truck i didnt see any of our oil feilds pumping but i did see alot of them capped for future reserves ..currently we have enough oil in reserve to take care of the country for the next 300 years and this is just in stockpile not counting the untapped oil feilds we have ...we have found an oil feild in the north of the country that is so much larger than that in arab nations that if we tapped it an started to use it it would drive the cost of gas down to the price it was in the 40's and 50's there is a reason they dont do it to keep profits up and use the fear to keep the public in line just look at our festiva's 40mpg cars 6 years sold in the U.S. when gas first started to go up an then gone most cars or trucks get 30 or if driven with sense 35 mpg ....in the 70's honda made the cvcc hatch another 35 - 40mpg car ...its 2011 an they arent able to produce a car that cant get any better mileage than in the 70's REALLY ??? ...hasnt anyone heard of the recall chevy had in the early 70's on the big gas guzzler cars they put a new intake on when the first so called fuel shortage happened i got friends an family who remember the big ol tank that got 40+mpg an they recalled it for some kinda intake problem an when people got the car back from the shop it got 20 mpg on a good day a guy in asheville N.C didnt take his in for the fix an it was "stolen" but recoverd only missing the speacial carb an intake there were i think 200 of these cars ...there are stories like this all around us if you look take for instance the fact that alot of people have made a ton of money selling patents to big oil a guy in FL in the late 80's designs a carb an intake that gave him some really great #'s on mpg an with some areo work he managed an unheard of 66mpg out of his daily driver he got his design patent an was approached by an oil company an they bought if from him an took possesion of his car too which was tested proven an then crushed ....why does a new car built with such amazing technology that they can tell you if your tire is low or your oil needs changed not able to match our lil festiva's in mpg even the prius if driven with a lil enthusiasm cant match us in mpg or most the electric cars they are devoloping the volt HA HA 100miles for an 8 hour charge then the gas motor kicks on for a 30 mpg rating the adds are a joke pull up plug in it only costs about 1.75 to charge it for 8 hours really who is their electric company cause if thats the case our bill should be about 45 bucs a month instead of 100+ .....sorry to rant but it kills me when i see things like this ..........remember the government is supppose to work for the people not the people work for the government .....fear the government that wants all the guns an the people to have only shovels an pitchforks .......and really who fired those other shots in dallas cuzz is wasnt oswald getting off that many rounds on a moving target from a window at that distance ..................again sorry for the rant but this world needs an enima

I think this just means we can raise the asking price if someone asks to buy one of our Festies.... instead of the 600 dollar cars the are now... we can tell people we want more for them because they are worth more than they want to pay just in gas mpg savings alone....

People like Festivas more when gas prices go up. They start saying things like " I wish I still had my festiva ", "you want to sell that car ?", "how many MPGs does that car get ?" Then I'll say : Back off buddy, tough luck you ruin your festiva, enjoy your gas guzzler.

That or I'll honk everytime I past a gas station and someone is filling up their SUV .
