How do you like Denmark, Unco? Big change from Australia huh?

I believe sketchman was just making a joke in regards to the USA not getting many of the cars that Europe gets. That's a pet peeve of mine too. I'd love to have a Festiva wagon.

Happy New Year to all of you.

We like Denmark. We were here back in September to make sure that this is what we really want to do. We're doing this for the opportunity to travel around Europe over the next 2 to 3 years. It is certainly a huge change from Australia, especially at this time of year... we've come from 35C+ temperatures in Aus to -10C and snow here in DK. Our main focus right now is to learn the language, buy a car and find a good rental place where we can live for the next 12 months at least, as we're staying at a B&B for now.

We live in the small town of Assens (population 6,000). So I'm afraid there are no junkyards here. There aren't many Festivas around either.

I'd love to buy that wagon too, but I think my wife wants something a little more modern looking and power steering. Cars are extremely expensive here in Denmark and we will only be able to afford 1 car at the moment.

Yeah, I was goofing. We almost always get the bottom of the barrel version of little cars. Looks like a mini Escort wagon. I'd love one. Shipping to 25650?

Assens. Right on the water. Gonna get some cold and ice there I bet. :-)
I can't imagine what it would be like to live in such a clean town. I'm jealous.
Make the best of it. If you can't buy 'em, test drive as many off beat and different cars as you can. Blonds and beer too. Best of luck and enjoy.

You said cars were expensive there but that doesn't seem a bad price for the festiva wagon, IMO. what do you think? If i read it correctly its listed at 14,000 DKK or about $2500 USD.

What kind of cars have you been looking at? Small fuel efficient ones i bet. Whats the price of gas there now, about 2 dollars a liter? And there are 3.79 liters to the gallon...yikes! That festiva wagon looks better all the time...smile. Hey tell her its the cool retro look, its got power windows, maybe even power steering, a few here had it. Maybe a scooter or bicycle in the warmer weather could be your second mode of transport. Best of luck to ya.

Then there is the super rare festiva pickup which would sell like hotcakes if we could get them.

It would be really cool if they made a 2 door wagon!
