    i have the original 289 as well, don't know yet what i'll do as far as engine rebuild and restomod

      My real car passion ( beside the Festiva of course) is the Mustang. My dream car is a 65 fastback with the 289, bright red with white stripes.

      I love the look of your 65 and really like the wheels. I'm not sure I would have picked them originally but they really compliment the car well. Glad that choice wasn't up to me

        I assume that's directed at the a new V6 Mustang that is 305hp, gets 30MPG, is very quiet, safe, comfortable, handles like it's on rails and will last for 200K+ miles? Or maybe you're referring to the new GT that is on-par with an M-Series BMW on a road course?

          Not quite sure what your getting at but if you want to spend over 20k for a car that does all that then go for it. IMO old school stangs is where its at. Keep watching speed channel.

            I love vintage Mustangs......I've had several and would trade my '04 GT for a '67 thru '73 Fastback (in good condition) any day of the week. What I was getting at was that the newer Mustangs are far from being junk. Even when my '04 was new, it was as fast or faster (stock for stock) as any of the old ones (except for maybe a 428CJ or Boss 351). When it comes to handling, ride, MPG, build quality, safety, etc., there is no comparison. The old stuff just can't compete with modern technology. As far as price goes, they're still about the same when you index to inflation. I would love to have a nice '69 or '70 Mach I, but I can buy an '04 Mach that is more car over-all for the same price, and get financing for it.

            That being said, I too am old school at heart, and always will be. If I can ever get my '62 Galaxie project done, I'll probably sell my '04 GT.
