  • Snow, festivas, and you.

Howdy fellas. Just wondering what you guys think about our festys in the snow? I didn't really think mine would do so good but to my amazement I haven't got stuck yet. My 91 GL didn't do so well seeing that it has total slicks on the front but my BP powered fester does great. It only has about half tread left and seems to hook up good in the fresh snow. It is a pain to control the gobs of power from the bp plus the 6 puck clutch but if babied it does great. I really hope im not going to jynx myself by posting this, but i mainly just wanted to hear some of your snow travels in your festys.

    Thanks for reading!

Mine does awesome in the snow.

I have taken mine in the snow only once for about 150 miles of snow and it did great! And its small enough to pass up the center in the powder! There was a couple times I caught some ruts that where too wide and it kinda tossed me around but not bad. I bought cable chains for the trip but decided that I felt comfortable without them.

You know you can do a B3 engine swap, right? Same engine family, but a lot less power, and better fuel economy as a plus!

Ability to go in the snow is one of the reasons I love my Festivas. All the snow we got here last year, and I didn't miss a day of work. Festiva FTW!!

True, true but I love the power. it wouldnt be so bad if my clutch wasnt so grabby. I think thats because of the hydrolic setup we used. Thanks for the idea though lmfao I might have to downgrade!

I used to drive mine 40 miles to work and back 5 days a week. South Dakota winters can be brutal. I also have driven it twice to Billings, Montana in a blizzard, 368 miles each way. The only problem I encountered was the slush moves the car around. Not much weight to hold the car on the road. This was with a set of Hercules 12" all season radials. Hydroplaning was the only problem.

Drove mine in the snow for the first time last Winter. I was amazed. Big 4WD trucks and SUV's were having all kinds of trouble. My Festy went around them like the road was dry.

Other than being lowered and scraping in the deeper stuff my Festiva is awsome in the snow, especially with the winter tires on!

I honestly would choose my festiva over my dodge truck any day in the snow! Its less expensive, and no matter how much snow or how much ice is on the roads, i can go anywhere. Like 5 people called me from my work to come pick them up before work (On seperate ocassions of course), i dont even have chains on.

I have a jeep tj with some big tires and sure I love it for 2 foot deep snow but general ice and heavey snow covered streets my festiva with goodyear nordic snow tires is a beast!!
12 inch tires are very narrow so they cut down to the traction real good so i am always fine.

if you get stuck festivas are very light so a simple push will get you out of what you drove into if you drove into it nice.
