  • Oil burning oh noes!

    I had an oil leak a while back and fixed it by tighting up the oil pan. now i have oil burning in my car. the car has 176k miles on it, is this common? what can i do to fix this problem.

    My 88 had a oil leak when i bought it, but it was just the valve cover gasket. It also burns a lot of oil, everyone has been telling me its just he valve guides. My buddies 89 burns a little oil too, its pretty typical to my knowledge

      oh ok, i replaced the valve cover last year and i ran seafoam through it. i thought i missed something.

        Sounds like you have Blow-By [Worn rings]. See if your PCV valve clogged. You might be able to add an oil catch can to the cam cover .
