I have an off-road CJ7 I use for snow plowing which means a lot of forward to reverse shifting of the automatic transmission. Yesterday the transmission started to take time for it to engage when shifting from forward to reverse or vice versa. I thought the trans might be low on oil, but when I checked it was actually overfull. I then felt the oil cooler lines and they were cold. I shut the engine off for a few minutes and then restarted it. I grabbed hold of the oil cooler line to see if it was getting warm and literallyl burned my finger. I let it sit and idle for a while and then started to use it again. It worked just like it used to - quick shifting from forward to reverse, but that didn't last long. It started back to slow shifting and I again checked the temperature of the oil cooler lines. Again they were cold. It has an oil cooler built into the bottom of the radiator tank and also an auxillary one in front of the radiator. Any ideas what could be causing this?

I'll give that a try. Perhaps there is a bunch of crud laying in the bottom of the radiator cooler tank that gets stirred up like dirt in a gas tank and plugs the line. The lines going into the radiator are flared fittings and the center hole is pretty small. You gonna race that thing?
