  • festivas can fly !( into a ditch at 40 MPH)

So Im driving home after a 10 hr shift, Second day I had to fill in for 3rd shift. About half way home I fell asleep at 40-45 MPH. Instead of making the turn I went straight landed in a ditch and slid about 60 - 70 ft down into in grass and mud. By the skid marks it did become airborn for a couple feet

Called the girl friend ( since it was her car) and she came and got me.

after a $75 tow up out of the ditch and home on the roll back( not a bad price) it looks like the only thing that was damaged was a tire and left spindle. The cv joint boots are bad so I my stick in a set of axles. So this weekend it looks like a spindle swap and it should be back on the road..

YES Im very lucky it landed in a muddy soft ditch, didnt even screw up the exhaust.

Wow, you are very fortunate that you weren't hurt and that there us such little damage considering what happened.
You are not alone, I did the same thing 6 months ago and was so happy that I wasn't hurt.

Good luck getting the Festiva back together.

FYI that's the KNUCKLE you broke there and it LOOKS like you may have bent your LCA as well, might want to look at that closer and inspect your tierod ends for play and straightness. while you're in there, replace your CV boot or better yet, the entire axle.

Anybody else see a pattern here?

            Kidding, Arty.

Glad you're okay, and the damage is fairly minimal. I hate having to swap shifts. My body gets used to sleep at certain times, and when that doesn't happen, nothing much good comes of it.

glad you're ok. As I'm sure you know, cars can be fixed or replaced (for the most part!), you coming away uninjured is the most important!!! Besides, you HAVE to finish MiniGun!!!
