I just purchased a Festiva yesterday for $500. It's a 91 that hit a deer and than sat for a while after the owner passed away. It needs some love up front. I already have a hood that I got from a junkyard and need to have the windshield replaced and also need to replace the right front headlight and corner light. It has a 5 speed with 215K on the clock and I drove it 30 miles home and it ran great. The tires seem to have flat spots from sitting. It will also need axles since they click in turns. I purchased it will the sole purpose of a mpg saver.

My AMC Eagle doesn't do to well in the MPG area.

For hitting a deer that's really not that bad! Like everyone else, after you buy your first one, you get addicted!

Now how many times have we heard this?

Any bets on how long it will take before he starts talking swap?

Welcome to the site Eaglefreek. You'll find a lot to love about your new purchase and a better source of info about it can't be found anywhere else.

      BTW, Nice AMC!

Thanks for the welcome. Swap? Not gonna happen. I spent qutie a bit of time an money getting my Eagle where it's at and toyed around with a Mustang SVO for several years and have no intentions of doing any motor swaps any time soon. The only swap I'd consider would be a Chevy 5.3l into the Eagle. I also have a Jeep Cherokee I bought a few months back that needs some work, but I may just sell it.

Welcome! It looks like a clean car. I don't think I've ever seen those graphics before. The front end looks like an easy fix. Stop by the For Sale/Wanted section here if you need parts.

I'm really digging that AMC. An Eagle wagon has been on my want list for years. You are a man of excellent taste, sir.

It's the Disease that keeps on giving, once you have it your stuck with it. Ya lets give him till the end of summer and see what engine he is looking for and what mods to do. Good luck and welcome to the site.

I have done many mods to my Eagle which have both improved and taken away MPG. I removed the tired engine that got 13 mpg and installed another 4.2l shortblock with a Jeep 4.0 head and Comp Cams camshaft. I got 70 more HP to the rear wheels, dyno verified, and 19-20 mpg. Then I lifted it a little, added all terrain tires and installed the roof rack which combined killed about 3 MPGs. It is my intention to keep the Festiva as stock as possible even down to the little 12" tires. Now if I come across another one for a good price that may be a different story.

…. Welcome aboard and I have a suggestion. If those tires are 6 or more years old on your "NEW" old Festie I think I would consider replacing them, Just a safe thought.

                        And again welcome

                        .

Installed an undamaged hood, changed the oil/tar and gave it a bath and vacuum on Saturday. Today I got it registered, a windshield installed and installed a Pioneer stereo I had sitting on the shelf. Right marker light and a Ford service manual is on it's way from Ebay. I've got to get the cv's changed out before they snap, they click like heck when turning. Tomorrow after work I have to remove the front diff from my Eagle to have gears and a Detroit TruTrac installed since I've not been able to put it in 4wd in almost 2 years since installing a rear with a lower ratio. Loving the Festiva so far.
