  • 69K 1.6 ....Should I?

Was out by Pitt last weekend and found a 94 Tracer with only 69K on the odometer. I could get the the engine for only $100.....my 1.3 is running fine but this just seems like a great deal.....does anyone have any input?

Just missed a 1.3 with only 18k on it. Walked by and did not look...when I came back someone was pulling the engine. Next time I will not be such a rush.

      $100.00? 69K?

The next time you post, it had better be about how you immediately went and picked up that motor.

        It's either a 1.8 or 1.9, or it's not a 94 Tracer. You sure on the year?

If its a 94 its either a BP (better yet) or a 1.9 Ford (most likely). Regardless, for $100 and 69K miles, I would get it. Even a 1.9 would be nice to have, just in case you run across a nice Escort with a bad motor for cheap!

              Batstiva was right....

Batstiva was correct by informing me of my statement for the year. It is a 1.6L from a 1988 Tracer not a 1994. My buddy went back to look for me and also informed me that the bottom end is shot

BUT.............the head is brand new....no tarnish or anything just a clean silver color and it also looks like a new cam.

Now I have done a search and from what I can tell is that the early b6 heads are different from the later models and will not fit a b3. Am I right in my research? If I am wrong.....my buddy is willing to pick me up the '88 Tracer head.

The early (1988 to '89) Tracer and 323 B6s are closest to the B3 in fitment.

If the head is in good shape and you can get it for a song, do so. Maybe pick up the whole engine if it can be rebuilt and you're game.

Intake and exhaust manis should swap back and forth between B3s and the early B6s. Putting an early B6 head on a B3 is NOT viable though, I'm pretty sure. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
