  • Headed to WI early next week

    Another job interview!

Headed to Milwaukee, WI on Sunday afternoon and return Monday afternoon.

    Anyone want to meet up?

On my last trip, I met JPT.
Great guy, who I hope, can break free from the man long enough to make a festiva meet!

Is this interview for you or something for your company. I wish I could talk the man into moving south or even west to start a new life.

I have been looking for a job for a year and a half. I think my problem is that I am a poor interview. Makes it hard because I know they are passing a great worker up for someone that can answer a question in the "theoretical proper way".

Gomez, interview is for me, I've been unemployed since Nov.
I feel your pain, keep at it, economy is getting better slowly.
It does get depressing, but you can't give up.

Why do you think you interview poorly?
Just need to practice answering the same type of questions they always ask.
Write your answers down and practice speaking/telling it to someone.
            This will help!

Gomez, if you come to the next Ohiostiva, maybe we can set up some practice interviews.

John, if you have time, stop on by my place. Dinner or snacktime's on me. I'm off work for the next four days!

Definitely.. Make sure you are honest. People hire people they like. Someone they don't mind seeing and being around everyday.
So practicing mock interviews are great. Also, make sure your resume looks good, clean and simple.

Other than that you just have to keep trying!

Good luck PU241! Hope it works out for you!

Well lets see if timing will work.
Looks like they're going to run me in and out pretty quick.
Get into Milwaukee's airport around 3PM Sunday.
Have to be in Oconomowoc for dinner at 6:30, so need to leave Milwaukee around 5:30 or so, depending on how bad traffic is there.
Would like to see the Renaissance Book Shop in Milwaukee, great place for books if you like that kind of thing.
Think there is a coffee shop near by too.
How does that fit your schedule Sunday.
Or could meet near the airport.
Seems to be plenty of stuff there too.

No, not on this trip, direct flights from PIT to MKE.
But if this job works out I'llbe working in Chicago a few days a week till the lab and equipment are moved to corp HQ in Oconomowoc, WI (I swear I didn't make that name up!).

PMing you my new number just in case I didn't send it to you in my mass Txting last month!

Well, a couple years ago, I DROVE to Milwaukee. Right after the March snowstorm.

Actually, Karl, you and Gomez aren't that far from each other. Maybe you and he can get together and do the practice interview.

Come to think about it, Gomez is between you and I.
What about a get to gether this Saturday(2/19) in Zanesville, OH?
Little over an hour for me, little under an hour for you, and close for Gomez.

Yeah, I'm setting up another meet inside a meet thread, but it's my thread so I'm not going to report a thread hi-jacking!

That would be great John, except that I'm still driving my "drive carefully" ATX car (Luxstiva, who needs new everything but is doing fine getting me around town) and will be trying to finish Aqua (fix the massive oil leak) tomorrow. Then I'll still need an alignment, so I don't think I'll have long range capability till Monday afternoon at the earliest.

Next weekend could work though, if I'm successful.

Hey Karl and Gomez, i was catching up on John and your posts to help Gomez with his practice interview, here is my 2 cents, when talking to your interviewer [Karl] always look him in the eye when you speak to him or her, and the same when they speak to you, for instance, try not to look down, off to the side or check out the sweet thing that just bent over to pick up something from the floor. I just lost my Job of 31 years so i need to polish on my interview skills also. Good luck
An idea can turn to dust or magic, depending on the talent that rubs against it.
