  • Clueless. anybody?

so the other day i purple powered my whole motor compartment scrubbin it like crazy making sure not too get the dizzy wet (i thought) but when i tried too start it it would only crank so i figured automatically that that was my problem from experience.tried everything too get it dried out but it didnt work.luckily i have another festiva in my back yard. so i grabbed the dizzy out of that car and threw it in mine. ran perfect but makes a weird (whining) noise now.????? dont really know what too make of it the car runs great and performs well just the weird noise.

I had this happen when I washed mine but it eventually went away. Which area does it sould like the noise is comming from?

Not sure if this could be a problem or not, but have you replaced the fusible links on the DS strut tower? Originally it had 3 wires, but you can replace them with long-legged cartridge type fuses. Use 30amp-40amp-30amp. These fuses work great and pop right in. If the old style links get wet, I think they can make a weird noise when they are wet. Maybe not, just a thought, but I suggest replacing them anyway.

the distributors get wet inside very easily and cause a no start or misfire condition (which youve solved). the whining can possibly be from the alternator. i drove my stiva thru a few inches of flood water and it splashed up onto the alternator taking out the bearings. its still charged normal but just made a peculiar whine/howl. pop the belt off and spin the pulley and have a listen. hope this helps!

did you soak the Alt with purple power? if so you likely washed down the bearings. i would look there first.
