  • First Phase of Full Tune-Up today...

A full bottle of Lucas A Real Octane Booster, a full pint of Marvel Mystery Oil, and a full tank of 93 Octane. Should clean up the block real well and I'm guessing my internals were really covered in sludge! The idle is 3x smoother, engine sounds a lot smoother, throttle response is snap on, and acceleration has drastically improved. For crying out loud, I'm getting torque steer in second gear!

Next phase: New plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and Royal Purple Oil which I will be treating also with Marvel Mystery Oil. After 4000 miles, I will be treating with Seafoam and another oil change.

Extras: Horn, re-wire electricals (stereo not working all of a sudden), fix speedometer.

The next phase will be done this weekend!

change your oil filter after 500 and then 1000 miles to help trap the crap because as the sludge brakes down it gets sucked up and through the filter to be pushed through the engine again.

Royal purple is overpriced, Torque steer sure is scary.

Good to hear it's running smoother and faster. The previous owner of mine must have changed the oil regularly. After 1500 miles the oil is still clear. Regular gas has the same additives as premium. There really isn't an advantage running premium in a vehicle that doesn't need it.

After reading this http://www.boss302.com/oil.htm I tried Supertech synthetic in my Eagle and it's quieter and got better MPG. I'm gonna try it in the Festiva next oil change.

Right on! You may motivate me to get out and do the same to my Honda. It does after all, need to get me around until the day finally comes when I get my Festiva rippin round the streets...

if you have e30 available out east, id run a few tanks thru it. ethanol is a cleansing agent that will clean out your fuel system (injectors, pump, etc.) i dont run anything but e30 in my festiva and it loves it. better mileage than regular unleaded
