  • What would you do?

I have an '89 carbie 10k, if that, on a crate b3 with 5 speed, tac, and alot of other great upgrades from my other 2 cars (factory moon roof, I think).
I'm just tired of constantly having to tweak the carb and replace vacuum lines and such.
My 93 is a FI but tank is missing sending unit.
Thats the whole story in a nutshell.

OK,let the discussion begin by better outlining what you have to work work with.

So other than some vac leaks and having to tweak the carb it runs OK?
Carb tweaking could be result of failing vacuum lines.
Might be worth just replacing all the old lines, which should have been done when the crate engine was installed.
In any case a carbie with a 5spd should get damn near the same perform ace MPG wise as a EFI.

If your '93 EFI is complete besides the missing sender and rust free why not get a new sender and put it on the road as well?

In any case the more info you provide us with, the better other people are going to be able to respond and help you.

Weber. Simpler than converting to EFI, very clean engine bay (see drddan's pics), good power.

the 93 is a rust bucket to the point i jacked it up to take the 5speed and the jack went THROUGH the floor. I dont have the funds for a weber switch, i have followed drdan for a while and a few others but i am somewhat hearing MPG lose much more power. the efi is less maintainence if im correct.

I understand about the funding issue, but maybe an option later.
The Weber can be tuned for MPG as well, most want the power but it is amenable to MPG tunning.

My only concern with doing the EFI swap into the '89 is that it isn't going to be a few hour operation.
Your car will be down for a couple of days.
Is that something you can do?
What if you find you need parts, tools, etc. do you have transport?
The hardest and most time consuming will be the transfer of the '93 wiring harness to the '89.
Can anyone give an estimate of how long that should take and what issues you ran into?

i will have my wifes truck and be taking friday and monday off with addition to the weekend. I have plenty of tools and i hope to put a inline on the 93 and fire it up as is, letting it run for an hour just to make sure everything is still good.
