  • Should I buy this Jetta?

Okay so I have a opportunity here and I think its well worth it. My boss has a 2000 vw Jetta TDI (Turbo Diesel) that she wants to get rid of. Its been sitting for awhile now.

Her daughter ran it out of oil, hence it not being driveable anymore. This is all I know so far is that she ran it out of oil. She only wants $500 for it, I think this is incredible, is it just me who thinks this?

    Give me your input guys!

Depends on your mechanical skills. If you know which end of a screwdriver to hold at least 90% of the time, I'd say go for it. If you gotta pay to have it repaired, then you might wanna give it some thought.

Haha I like the screwdriver part there I'm no expert when it comes to working on cars, but I have common sense and can do whatever I put my mind towards. I wont be paying someone to repair it

I would join a TDI forum or do alot of research. I have never owned a diesel VW, but from my experience, diesel stuff is pricey to fix. I know that used diesel engines can be pricey.

My dad has a 2000 TDI Jetta too. It's fun to drive, it gets up hills without breaking a sweat, you can poop black smoke when someone is tailgating you and the turbo sounds cool. I would buy it in an instant even if a new engine was 2-3k. MPG rivals the festy, only bad note is that diesel if now the expensive fuel.

My dad first bought to save on fuel and now he bought a bike lol.

            BUY IT!

ha thats funny, my dad has a 2000 TDI too, its a Golf though. ironic. timing belt broke, bent up the valves, and i would say it was the hardest timing belt that we have ever done.. alot of quirks and things... check out the TDI forum guys, there is a lot of resources there. great car when everything is running right.

For 500, this is something I plan to fix and sell, not to have as a driver

I was hoping to find out more about this problem, if its seized, I was hoping to just make a quick buck by selling it for more

Hell u could even part it out on ebay then sell the she'll at a jy and make money on it if the engine is seized. If they ran it out of oil my concern would be the turbo being ruined bc of no lube for the bearings. Its funny how people will pay over 20 grand on a car and then not maintain it lol

Thats actually a awesome idea. If its too expensive to fix, I might just do that.
