  • new f1 clutch is a stocker! wtf

    So I just got my stage 2 "race" clutch, the pressure plate sais "kia" right on it and is just painted blue. I hope the actually made it a stiffer clamp load. But the clutch its self is nothing like the factory one. Anyways I hope this thing will handle the power.

    the pressure plate could be from a larger vehicle? that would need a higher clamp load to handle the weight and power...
    Trees aren't kind to me...

      I can only hope :-/ with my setup I should be pushing about 240-260hp. And its supposedly good for 300hp.

          never understood why clutches are rated in HP and not Tq, the clutch doesn't care what HP you make, but it DOES care how much Tq you try to get it to transfer to the trans.
          Trees aren't kind to me...

            Well I read a fiew reviews on ebay clutches, there where no bad reviews on the f1 stage 2 but the stage 3 has negative reviews. Idk I guess I will findout how well its gunna work when I get it all togother.

                        I'm not 100% positive, but I believe it's because the holding power (force) is dependent and varies with speed (RPM) and performs work. Static (holding) brakes are typically rated in LbFt.

                          I was on a miata forum and there was a guy with the same ms system and turbo ect that I'm gunna be running and he dynoed 298 hp and 262 tq. On 18 psi of boost. I'm gunna run 16 psi. So I should be up around 260 ish hp so we will see how this clutch does......

                            the only company that i know of that uses centripital force to increase clamp load is CenterForce... just sayin'

                              You should be more worried about the trans holding 250 hp than a clutch
