  • Yippee, Yee-awwwww, All Right, BIG SILLY GRINS!!

I've finally driven a B6 5 speed!! I got Aqua aligned and took her on a test drive, including freeway.

Wow!! I don't even have my B6 ECU in yet, and WOW!!!!

What I've been missing...some actual power!

I'll do two tanks of fuel on the B3 ECU before swapping in the B6 unit to document the fuel economy difference.

Good alignment, smooth sailing at 65, can't wait till a nice day when it isn't raining so I can do more, better, faster!!

Okay, I'm calmed down a bit now.

    Have a nice day, ya'll! I AM!!

    Woo hoo!

I may see about setting up some dyno tests.

Big relief that I'm at least driving her now instead of parking her for more work!

I can't imagine how a B8 or BP would feel...then again, I doubt this B6 will trash my stock MTX. I'll have to learn some real discipline after I do my B8 swap on Twin!

(Going to "User CP" to update my tag info.)

Congrats Karl! I'd been wondering what you'd think after driving a REAL B6 swap (none of that auto stuff :-P). They are crazy fun, and yes the B8/BP is a whole new feeling all over again lol. BeBandit, hows your swap coming along? If you need a hand sometime on the weekends just let me know, I'd love to lend a hand if I can.
          No festiva for me ATM...

The way your feeling going from a b3 to a b6 is the way you would feel going from a b6 to a bp X1.

Yeah it's a lot of fun. Even when my turbo was down and I only had NA, it was nice. With the turbo and the cat delete pipe, I am def making more than an NA BP motor. When it was dynoed down in FL, Casper with the BP made 108 HP at the wheels; my B6rt made 111. And that was before the cat delete, which added at least 15 HP. Before, it would spin the clutch in 5th; now it spins it in 3rd and 4th too! And this clutch is already one upgrade better than stock. Later on, it'll get a Clutchnet pressure plate to fix the spinning.

                        Thanks guys!

I do indeed plan on driving Aqua to Ohiostiva. Her interior work, roof rack, and maybe heavy duty trailer hitch should be done by then. Along with the Happy Waving Mermaid hood painting!

If I really get on the ball, the remains of Muttstiva will be trailing behind her as my first try at a trailer.

Hey! Any Festiva that runs and gets good mpgs is "the Real Deal."

Aqua is going to be my "work car." Thus the racks and hitch. I'll be cutting out the rear seat brackets for more interior hauling room, and "tastefully appointing" her interior with more artistic flourishes. Probably involving mermaids and/or tie dye.

Hmmm. Tie dyed mermaids. I'm a genius!! Now THAT'S the Real Deal. :p

As far as more power, Aqua is in many respects the prototype for what I want to do with Twinstiva when I get her back on the road w/salvage title with a B8 swap. The Rio front struts and the upper fuel filter mount are two things I'll probably carry over. Twin won't have any racks though, unless they're removable. She'll be more a GT car for trips.
