  • Tire availability

Has anyone else noticed that 13" tires are beginning to be discontinued? I can't find Sumitomo 185/60/13's anymore. I ordered a set of Federal Formozas in the same size and the "left in stock" thing said 19. Tire rack only has the way expensive race tires in 185/60/13's now. I always found them to be the best size for my Festy. What a shame!

I was just noticing this myself. It seemed to me that the best bet was a 175/70 R13. I've been wanting to get some 13x5 323 alloys for a Festiva, but I'm not so sure it'd be wise seeing the dwindling tire selection. I'm not sure what size wheels to look for now.

I guess it all depends on size and probably where you are. 155/80's and 175/70's are plentiful around here.

I was looking to move to 13s too because 14s are so dang expensive. I wish 15s would work without mods. I'm trying to stay as close to original circumference as possible.

195-60-13 nexen cp's are 300$ mounted and balance. And they are verry high rated. I run them as my winter tires. In the summer I run 195-60-14 falken azenis (the new style/ revised) and they are absolutley amazing and where about 420$ total.

Firestone carries Primewell 830 and 850 tires, I have ran many sets of them and never had any issues.
                    They are available in: 155/80R13, 165/80R13, 175/70R13 and 185/70R13.
                    40,000 mile warranty.
With all the bells and whistles, mounted balanced, replacement warranty etc.. they run $335.92
A bit of dickering and you can get them for a tad under $300 (usually)

195/45-15's on 15x6.5" with a +38mm wheels work perfect with no rubbing anywhere. AND they are also about as close to stock as is possible more so than with nearly any other tire size available. If memory serves correctly miata.net showed less than 1 mph difference than stock at 60 mph

I'll bet they look and ride pretty sweet too! Maybe I should have been more patient and looked for 15" rims. Oh well, I have always liked my 185/60/13's so I'll stick with them for now.

12 in tires are also extremely hard to find. im in the tire business and we have only one dealer that carries them but they only get a shipment in about once every 6 months and its only about 30 tires. they just got a load in last week so i stocked up with 2 sets
