Lower rad support brackets

Does anybody know for sure what kind of metal they are ? Here is the deal ! I welded one on this morning and it really welded strange and put off a thick brown smoke on my helmet ! And yes it was clean! no paint at all looked like steel ! Well ten min later I broke out in a severe rash and spent the morning in the hospital! Just wanted to put the warning out that I'm thinking there galvanized brackets !!!!!! Won't do that again !

I had one welded on. I don't believe they are galvanized. I had the paint stripped off of another and its just bare steel. Are you sure you took the rubber out of the support bracket?

Lol yea ! I'm sure ! It does polish like steel but just watch what your doing! Just sending out the WARNING !
