It would have been R12 from the factory, but someone may have converted to R134a. FWIW the R134a fittings are larger (the conversion kits usually screw onto the factory R12 fittings. If you can send post a pic I can at least tell you if its got R134a fittings on it, but that won't tell you whether a proper conversion was done (evacuating the system and refilling it properly, including the correct oil) or if someone bought a cheap mcparts store kit and chucked it full of R134a. If the latter is true then you will likely need a new compressor when the one thats in there locks up soon.No festiva for me ATM...

R12 has this fitting in the compressor itself (built in)this is for the freon.. while R134a dont have..you have to make a fitting in the hose from the evaporator..search in the internet for the manual of a sanden compressor for your perusal..hope this would help.."i am the difference"

Thanks everyone! I went by an A/C shop, & the tech looked at my system. Its already R134A, he told me to go to Auto parts store & pic up a DIy kit. Already done, airs cold now. Its already in the high 70's -80's in Fl. thanks again for the info.:glasses7:
