  • What is it worth?

I have a line on a 1990 Festiva L 5sp. It has new tires. New muffler. One owner 31k miles. Factory yellow! I know what the price guides say, but what about real world price? Ebay price. It seems that the proven reliability of these cars and and the opportunity to get such a low mile car would be of some significant value that may not be fully reflected in the price guides. I'm trying to get an idea of a fair price for a car that will likely last for many many miles and years. Seems like even more of a value for the money now, as opposed to when new as its a sure bet for durability. Imagine what it would have cost for this as a used car in 1990 with 31k. Thoughts, opinions?

How much is he asking I would throw a quick 1500 his way if it was indeed a 31000 mile car.

No doubt its for real. He said his mother in law drove it till she couldn't any more. Then it sat inside. I wonder if it would need brake hydraulics from sitting so much.

My parents have a 96 Ford f250 before it went to the new body style and it only has 20000 miles on it. I wonder what its worth.

Check it out really well to make sure it is working nice and has no major problems. Age itself can take a toll, but the low miles are certainly a substantial benefit.

Factory yellow! If you like this color you might offer another hundred dollars or so just for that rarity!

I can see almost $2000 being relatively fair if the car is indeed in immaculate condition and needs no major work anytime soon. You have to ask how much it is worth to you. The various price books can only give you a rough idea of something like this.

Good luck and I hope you get it!

If you DO NOT buy the car why not let us know on the board, maybe someone here would like to buy it. Obviously you have the right to it first, but if you pass let us know. I think the yellow ones were cool!

I'd love to have a yellow one. Closest I've ever gotten was pulling parts from a yellow '90LX at the 'yard.

                    31k?

                    at 16 yrs old:

replace the timing belt, upper and lower radiator hoses, change the oil and coolant, flush the brake fluid, change the alt. belt, inspect the front rotors for extreme rust and check if the pads are any good, pull the rear drums off and check for rusted hardware and if parking brake lever is seized and rust on drums, check tires to see if they are dry rotted and for a flat spot--------ALL BEFORE EVEN DRIVING IT

and if it has not been started in more than 2 years, pull the spark plugs out and squirt some ATF in the cylinders, let sit overnight, then crank over by hand first before using the starter!!!!!!

and after all of that, you will need to break in the engine all over again.

IF YOU DON'T WANT ANY PROBLEMS DOWN THE ROAD!!!

Well, I went ahead and got it. The guy already had it out and running. It was on a farm in a barn with a dirt floor, so some rust on the wheels and the rotors do look a little rusty. Dust dust dust on the outside, and pigeon crap. The yellow still shines when I wiped a spot off. I've never seen the sides of a Festy so straight. I thought they came from the factory with dents.
Man this thing looks new on the inside. Looks like nobody even opened it up since '03 when parked after his mother-in-law passed. Almost smells new still. It still has a Motorcraft battery in it. Is there any way it could be original with little use, and no night driving w/ lights etc? They only lived a few miles from the next town. I bet this car never went more than 5 or ten mile from home. It will take some TLC but it may be a keeper. I may even sell my '88 with air & 193k when I get it going.
