  • Where is the coolant sensor?

I am running at 27-28 mpg on 60% hwy. AUTO TRANS with New plugs, wires and O2 sensor. Where is the coolant sensor?. I would love to change it if there is a chance it will help improve my mileage.

I don't think you have an issue with the coolant sensor.
Assuming you have an EFI engine, which we do not know from your post.
The coolant sensor is located on the passenger side of the intake manifold, near #1 cylinder and has a green connector linking it to the engine wiring harness.
My ATX's best MPG was 32 all highway driving at 55-60 MPH.
So depending on how fast your 60% highway driving is 27-28 might not be too far off.
Might just try slowing down to increase MPG.

Then I really wouldn't expect much more MPG.
I've seen people reporting mid to upper 30's MPG wise in an ATX, but personally I've never seen anything over 32 in my ATX.
However, in my 5 spd units I've logged low 50's MPG in two units.
So I will soon convert the ATX to MTX!

Ok, I did hit 36 mpg on th New Jersy tpke a while back. Its a straight run without traffic and hills.
So for go the coolant sensor? waste of time

I think it would be a waste of time and money.
Aero mods are probably our best shot and improving MPG, whether you own a ATX or a MTX.
Lower the car, front Air-dam, real low side skirts, spoiler or "more better" a cam back.

No, just not certain how necessary a belly pan is with an air-dam and side skirts.

Though, I think some how smoothing the "parachute" that is the backside of the rear bumper (the front facing section), might pay considerable dividends too!

Just run on four donuts at 60 psi...smooth wheel covers and rear quarter wheel well skirts. Lower the car, belly pan it...run 0w20 oil and drive like a grandma.
