Who's the king of the MPG's on here

I don't understand how it can make a difference. I always fill up at the same gas station, AND the same pump. As well as topping off ~50 cents each time. So are you saying my tank of 43mpg is a fluke just cause it has only 175 miles to it?

Not necessarily but it is possible. In my case it was. I was very precise about miles traveled and fuel consumption. I would put gas all the way up to the brim. I would even shake the car to burp out the air and give it more gas.

What driving more miles does is give you a better representation of actual mpg. You may find that you will still get 43mpg or you may see a lower number. Me being in a BP may also have larger effects who know! I'd just try it out... Going longer on a tank and checking!

i average between 28 and 33 driving like an a-hole all the time, but i did manage to take a couple thousand mile road trip last summer and i avg'd 45mpg at 75mph on multiple different fillups pretty good i'd say!

I'm averaging about 37mpgs in mixed conditions, but I enjoy the trip less than I do arriving at my destination. OH, with the B3, driver weight plays a part there, too.

I get about 33-36 MPG in the city without even really trying. I don't drive it hard unless I'm late for work. Would probably be higher but I tend to cram in more gas in the tank after the gas pump automatically shuts off gas with the gas nozzle still in the tank; more 'gallons in' for the same miles lowers the MPG. Need to change out my O2 sensor and clean out my engine, too.

Hyper-mileage driving works. I can vouch for that. About 2 years ago I gained about 50% MPG in city driving on a 2004 VW Beetle. Most of that was just driving smoothly and turning off the engine when I didn't need it (coasting to a red light or stop sign, coasting into a parking space, etc). I was very, VERY surprised how much city driving could actually be accomplished with your engine literally turned off. Google 'hyper mileage'. You'll see there are tons of websites dedicated to it. They'll be gaining members even more now that gas is going to be $4.00+/gal in about 2 months. Just watch....
