I picked up 2 Festys from a guy today. He has one left that is an old project of an old man that Died in Columbus some time ago. It was definitely a sweet project car. My guy got it from the old mans son. After seeing some of the mods I would have to say he used to be a member here. If you might possibly know who that old man may may have been please lmk. Looks like he had EGT rear brakes with the custom fabbed mounts already made, Power Steering rack, looks like maybe a complete Aspire swap (new springs, struts, rear torsion beam etc I'm not sure what Aspire stuff looks like) and way too many more parts to list. Car is not even a roller but EVERYTHING listed above is jammed inside the car.
First off the guy showed me the motor. I am guessing it is a BP based only on what I have seen on here. It was covered and looked to be in super condition. Said I could have it for $50. Show me a pic of what one looks like on an engine stand and if interested maybe we can barter.
The car itself is gutted, seemingly in project beginning stages. It is a '90 Aqua (not sure if L, GL, or L-Plus). The body is PERFECT. NO RUST. NO DENTS. Paint just needs waxed severely.
Here is the kicker. Originally when I bought the other 2 cars from him today he was keeping the Aqua one to put it on a '78 CJ 5 frame. I told him of my dislike of that situation (kiddingly to him of course). Anyway after we signed titles etc. I asked him what it would take to get him to part with it. Told me he was actually thinking of not using the Festy after he saw how much I liked them. We talked and he wants a mid-late 80's Escort to do it instead. If I can come up with a nice one (motor and tranny not necessary) we could talk trade for EVERYTHING. Of course I'm pretty pumped.
