  • Someone PLEASE find me the origin of these absolutely ugliest wheels.

I am mesmerized by these wheels. I have to know who and WHY these were made into creation. Also if anyone is near the Blue Island LKQ PLEASE get bigger pics of them. They leave so many questions unanswered about them: Who bought them? Were they blind? Should they even be able to drive? Is that the reason why they have been curbed? Is that the reason why it's in LKQ right now? ALL these questions are more important than the meaning of life. I can't understand these wheels at all!

    2002 Toyota Tundra - V6/Auto/2WD - The Tow Vehicle.

rofl! Why??? They look like folding blinds! Look at the way the lines aren't even straight. It really looks to me (although I'm not quite sure how, not to mention why) like some adapted some sort of folding blinds to a rim! Well they'd certainly have a good case for pleading insanity should they have need to. Wow!

How'd you come across this anyhow?

Those are blinds. There is a swicth inside the vehicle to adjust how much sun light can hit the steel rims. Reason why is with the Saturn Vue they used a ,mild steel for their rims. They have been known to get to hot in which they will expand and also heat the air within the tire. This will cause the tire to blow prematurely. Why not just replace the rim? Well Saturn was a sub division of GM, therefore they had a smaller budget when it came building thier cars. So in order to recall them Saturn would have gone bankrupt. So the blinds were the cheaper route.

I think the guy has the right idea. In this economy, he can just pull over at any time and do his laundry on the wash board rims!
In the 90's we had Clinton in office. We also had Bob Hope and Johnny Cash. Now we have Obama in office and we have no Hope and no Cash.
God grant me the serenity to accept what I cannot change, strength to change what I cannot accept, and wisdom to hide the bodies of those who piss me off!:-)
This is NOT an abandoned vehicle

I wish I could find stuff about these wheels, at least the company who made them, I would love to see what other atrocious wheels they have made.

I've seen those before around here. On some 90s Caprice or the like. They're super hideous on a Vue. Why would you put any kind of rims on a vehicle like that?

Is it bad that I kind of like them?

They're hidious on the Vue and I wouldn't rock them but they're kind of innovative.

                              ^ X2 lol

Google search for "washboard wheels" yielded two more examples, provided below for your viewing pleasure

Note the clever use of plaid on the Lexus (and also the car cover on the ground in front of it so you can hide it really quick so you're buddies don't see what you drive . Unfortunately no more info on where they came from lol.
