  • Trip theory

On several of my festiva's with factory tach clusters the trip is hateful to reset. I used to just bump it over and over until it reset. I made a recent observation and tested 5 times in a row with consistent success. If I hit the reset button when the 10ths place reads 2 it will reset on the first or second push. Trip huh? Pun intended.

Anybody else have a testy festy trip and care to test my theory?

Very observant! Maybe it just needs a little lube after 20 years...?

when I'm sitting at the pump filling up mine won't reset no matter how many times I push the reset button. After I pull away from the pump (car moving) I push the button and then it will reset.

I agree with the lube. Mine wouldn't reset at all either. Took it apart lubed it and it now works perfectly.

I did that too. That's how I noticed that it resets on 2 tenths.

Sounds like a plan then. Thanks crazyrog17 and Gomez.

The orange cluster in mine resets perfectly every time... always has. Guess I'm lucky.

Never had a problem on my festies but on other cars the white lithium spray grease works well... smooths out the odo rolling too.
                No festiva for me ATM...
