  • Shock & strut life expectancy.

How long (time and/or distance) can aftermarket shocks and/or struts be expected to last??

If you get good coilovers and istall them well they should outlast your car, lol. Springs will last about 40-60% longer than stock ones, but the coilovers themselves will probably break out the mounting points before the actual system breaks...

I replaced them on Junkyard Save about 4 years and 75,000 miles ago and they are still in good shape. It's pretty flat here and I've really not driven much on rough roads.

I've got about 130,000km (80,000 miles) of spirited driving over 5 1/2 years on the KYB GR2 shocks and struts on my car. Is this a typical lifespan for these shocks?

        Thanks

That's the same one's I have also. I had replaced my front sway bar bushings at the same time but they had cracked a lot. I just replaced them last Saturday. Hope my shocks and struts last a while longer. (The bellows covers are pretty much toast now however.)

Did you replace the springs when you changed the struts.

Yes. Installed the FMS lowering springs.
