  • What do I look for at the junkyard?

I'm headed to Pull-A-Part this week, what do I look for?

I know undersea trays, spoilers, passenger side mirrors (not sure of the difference between regular and "swoopy" is), aluminum wheels, some gauges.

    Aspire suspension and brakes.

Is there something from other cars I need to look for? Seats? Consoles? Mirrors? Wheels?

Swoopies are electric mirrors that came on the 1990 LX only here in the USA. The early '90s Mazda Protege LX came with them also and they will work on a Festiva with just a minor modification. '88 and '89 LX Festivas came with electric mirrors also but they are different. Here is a pic of '88-89 LX power mirrors and the '90 LX(Swoopy) mirrors. '88-89 is on top and the Swoopy is on the bottom.

Full center consoles from 5spd festies are good! (or from the auto versions, they just don't have the retainer & shift boot to install in a 5spd festy)

Swoopies came on quite a number of Canadian Festivas too, usually LX's

          Wyb, my brain now fried.

If Escort seats fit, then Fox Mustang seats fit. I had both in an '89 Isuzu Pup lowrider back in the day. Had the Escort seats first, then swapped for the Foxes without swapping tracks. These were also popular for classic Mustangs.

escort seats are not a direct swap....need to mod.

Look for intermittent wipers in 323's and 626's, Also steering wheels from them and rx7's.
Prelude seats are almost a direct swap.

I've got a Miller 130 110v MIG on gas, I can mod seat tracks as needed.

Once the tracks are layed out, the ford seats should be swappable is probably what he means. Some old flo-fits are great if you can come up on them

Always look for inner R/H sail plates for power mirrors, thermostat housings, manual seat belts (in good condition) and tach clusters. If there are any old Escort wagons, then be sure to carry a pair of snap ring pliers to grab the gear only.

B3 dizzies are always in demand (very expensive new or rebuilt) and two/three times a year someone is looking to replace a busted thermostat housing.
