  • Welder need for F tranny mounts

I'm in need of F tranny mounts. I dun know if this has benn done before, or if it's a good idea, but can anyone make me some mounts for a price?

I only have access to a 120V arc welgind machine that is apparently only good for 16 AWG metal, so no good for mounts :S

Otherwise I would have to rent a machine for one day and it's a lot of trouble for a few mounts.

I have some mount fabbed up for the hydro f-series but they are being sold with the tranny. If I can't get rid of my BP and tranny I will let you know about the mounts. Might sell them seperate.

What does the mount look like? Do you have dimensions or a drawing?

The Front is the AWD G series mount used from the GTX and the right side mount is the mount that the protege used. The AWD mount had to be cut on one end and flipped around in order for the bolt holes to line up. I can get pictures later if you guys want to fab your own, but using the AWD mount and fabbing that probably is the best. When my brother fabbed his own mount the first time it just kept breaking. On my BP swap I never fabbed a rear mount because with the front and side mount it had the engine and tranny mounted so tight that it didnt need the rear mount.

Ill get pictures for you guys here in a bit.

this is what i did for my F tranny mount all i had to do was trim them up a bit and the mount to. I later filled my mounts with window urethane to stiffen them up.

Your seriously not running a rear trans mount? There's no way just a front trans mount and the engine mount will stop the engine from moving like the way all 3 mounts would hold it

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

I had 3 mounts. passengers side engine mount, front tranny mount and side tranny mount. I adapted the side tranny mount from the protege to fit the festiva cause we couldnt figure out how to make a proper rear tranny mount.

Oh I missed that you meant a trans mount on the top on the tranny, now I understand what you meant lol I personally wouldn't go without a rear mount though

I'd bet money that the rear mounts would be identical, I'd only be concerned if there's a difference in the front mount due to the slave cylinder location, if you find a pic of the front mount on a cable trans, compare it to your hydro one

Tack weld them and then maybe you can find someone to do the whole bead for you.
