What do your plugs look like.
Are they relatively clean, oil soaked, burnt?
Have you changed them and if so what kind are you running?
Maybe another bottle of Seafoam or red bottle of HEET to cleanout the fuel system and carb.
Tire pressure at max on side wall (ride will suck)?

True, but the difference in final drive ratio between the 4 and 5 spd's isn't as much as I originally thought. And I have seen 47-48 MPG from a 4spd Carbie.
So I think 45 MPG should be easily "do able"!

It's all about progress. As long as its not going backwards reap your rewards. As it gets even warmer you should see another slight increase. The faster the engine and drivetrain get to temps the more fluid the fluids are and it will run leaner in closed loop. Time those signal lights, run stop signs, try not to get into places where you need reverse...it all adds up. Technique can add another 10% at least even if you are a good driver. This is not even adding my favorite turning off engine and bump starting. I got the aspire to 45 mpg one tank by doing this, the regular tanks were right at 40 all the time.

It's a MazdaFordnKia thing, and you will understand!
I would tend to think something is not right mechanically. My '88 carb 4-speed easily got 46-50 mpg at those speeds. A 400 mile trip @ a constant 55 mpg once got me 57 MPG. Even loaded up with my belongings on the trip to CA, it got 43.

Reason: spelling, which is important, you know!
If it has boobs or wheels, sooner or later you're going to have trouble with it.

I'm having to try really to get what I'm getting. That's why I think there is more she can do.
