How much would it worth to buy.
It has decent interior. Smokes bad engine sound decent. I could use it for a parts car. I can use the wind shield and door panels, back seat etc.. how much is the parts worth.

It's been sitting for a year. He said people has stopped by looking. He said he just wants to get his money back from a trade he did. Some offered him 400 but never stopped back by.

I'd tell him you want it juts for parts, and whats the least he'd let it go for..

If he says hes firm on $500 offer $450, if he seems flexible, i'd offer $350, then he may say 400...

It really just depends what it's worth to YOU.. how much you'll be able to use from it etc.

Had the white gauges mine has Orange. I need a second car for myself. My wife has van. But I drive 144 miles a day. And if I have to fix mine I have to do it fast before I go back to work. It's hard for her to part with the van with us having the kids.

Take five crisp 100 dollar bills, lay 3 on the hood and say there's what I think. Then have a 50 ready. If he shakes his head or says no. Lay the 50 down, if he still says no pull the 50 off and put another 100 down. Then if he still says no pull all the 100's off the hood and fold them put them in your pocket and start to walk away. He will most likely stop you from leaving. You shouldn't need the 5th 100 if all goes well.

Take what you're willing to pay and a way to haul it home. I do this with my rollback all the time

I picked up one car for $300 and another for $250 using this method. I basically say "I have X amount of cash and a way to get it out of your way in under 15 minutes". If he still says no then use my method #2 - give him your phone number and tell him "call me when you want your money"

In the end though it all boils down to negotiation. I have another method I use when I don't feel like haggling with someone. I tell them "I have a number in my head that I'm willing to pay and you have a number in yours that's the minimum you're willing to take....you go first and we'll see if we can meet somewhere in between" (this also works very well when you pull up in a rollback or with the means to transport the car because they know you're serious about getting the car)

EDIT - Forgot to add that I also keep a little spare cash somewhere else on my person just in case there is something about the car that I'll go a little extra for. For example; if I'm willing to pay $300 then I have no more than $300 in my wallet. That way if I get them to bite on the $300 they don't feel secretly cheated if I pull out $500 and only hand him $300. It makes the seller feel a little better about the compromise and everyone is happy about the deal. But on the other side of the coin, I have some spare cash if I'm willing to go a little more.
