  • Choices Choices Choices~

Hey guys, first post here new to the forums, although I have been lurking about ever since I thought about getting a festiva and im going to go buy my first festy tomorrow morning and I am stoked!!! 1992, auto white, super excited . But! its definitively going to need some work, mechanically its good to go (aside from the lack of a 5 speed) but the inside and out are going to need some work. So my first question is, since the outside is looking pretty bad, and I have always wanted to try one of those DIY paint jobs with Rustoleum paint, I figured what a perfect time, so any suggestions for color? Im pretty much open to anything bright colors, darks, greys, pearl etc! just looking for some advice. Also do you guys know of any website to get some good nice fitting seat covers for a 1992 festy? I found alot of semi custom types but not sure if any of them are really that great. And one last question, any easy way to boost my MPG just a bit? he claims it gets 38 but I doubt its true, but either way I was wondering what you guys have found to be the best MPG booster. My brother in law is a mechanic so he will be helping me do anything I need, just not sure what needs doing! thank you guys, super excited to get my first festiva!

i could probably make you some custom covers, as for color wise its all about your own preferances, and post up pics when you get it and add were you are in the world...

Welcome, and congrats on the purchase! I would leave it white, just my opinion. White is easy to paint and covers alot of flaws and is my favorite color on a Festiva. Instead of buying slip on seat covers you might try buying some off here. The previous owner may be getting 38 MPG with the automatic transmission, depends on his driving. I personally get 35 MPG consistently with mine and thats mixed driving. As for boosting your MPG, just make sure the engine is tuned up, clean air filter, tires are properly inflated, etc.

With the rustoleum roll on paint job lighter colors always turn out good. I tracked down a few cans of "festival green gloss" for when I painted Hulkstiva and it turned out great!

Best way to get gas mileage is a swap to the 5 speed.

How easy/expensive is that :p, and anyone who has done the rustoleum paint job, do you use their "autobody paint" http://www.rustoleum.com/CBGProduct....518&sid=253507 or just high gloss? thanks for any info on both!

That rustoleum auto paint is news to me! I went with the regular rustoleum high gloss. Are you planning on rolling it on or spraying it?

I was planning on rolling it on, most of the people I see doing it with spray don't turn out quite as nice, and the autobody rustoleum has just the right color orange so i'm debating it over the high gloss.
