  • New festiva on the block!

    Hi there
    :newb:
I just got my festiva yesterday. Drove 2 hours to buy it for 550$ and had a friend drive it back. Shortly after buying it we put gas in it.... and the gas tank leaks. it only holds 3/4 a tank w/o leaking. The clutch needs to be adjusted, needs new filters, brakes, distributor cap, the exhaust needs to be welded up (it hits the ground on bumps... thats how we came up with the name clank) and i also have to find tires that will fit it. oh, and the interior had been taken out to paint the inside, so i'm putting that back together also (with definitely not enough screws) i found that i am missing the speaker panel from the right side and the shelf that goes across. any idea where i can find a gas tank and interior pieces? i live in NC.

so, all in all, despite the problems, i really like this car. did i mention this is my first car? yeah, so if it wasn't for my personal mechanic/best friend and my boyfriend i'd be lost.

this thread is useless without pics

Welcome to the site!! you'll love it here.... BTW post your location in your profile, it'll be easier for future reference if any member's live nearby that'd come give a hand re-assembling your festiva

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

Welcome! WOO HOO, another NC member!

Where in NC are you located? There's a large group of us on this site so a fuel tank should be easy to find. What year is your car?

Ok, you're pretty close to Smedley and Kartracer46. I'd just about guarantee one of them has the fuel tank you need :thumbright:

its an 89, haven't learned much about it yet.

my mechanic/best friend has a welder and is trained (hehe, i'm lucky)

he is a member also, so i'll direct him to this thread.

                      Manual or automatic?

The '89 autos were a breed unto themselves, with the initial FI (fuel injection) system that was further modified in 1990. Thus, the '89 FI cars were a one year FI oddity of sorts.

If it's manual then you have a carburetor. All '88s and manual '89s were carbed.

All Festivas '90 to '93 were FI.

We're waiting to find out...ha! Also, what color is it?
