  • Festiva Injectors in an Aspire

Made a mistake and blamed the injectors for a stumbling issue. No big deal since i had extra Festiva ones anyway. As I was swapping them out I noticed that they are a different design. Pintle vs. Disc. Someone correct me if I'm wrong on the names.

Any issues with cross compatibility? Pretty sure the disc type make a finer mist than the pintle ones, but I assume they are the same size? Seems to run fine with them. Just curious.
Any difference that makes no difference is no difference.

I have both rails in front of me. I like the aspire rail because it has a schader valve and extra ports all over the thing for aftermarket add-ons. I notice that ford escort stuff is quite different from mazda fuel systems too. If i was going to use the aspire rail and injectors id use the aspire intake manifold just in case the opening distance or shapes are different. If yours runs fine then guess you don't need to. Also want to add the more modern cars use higher fuel pressures, not sure if mid 90's aspires had anything higher than the fuel pressure of the festiva. You can always take off the aspire regulator, they bolt right on any of the fuel rails the same.

Hmm. I'll keep that in mind about the regulator, but yeah, it seems fine. My mom drives it, so I don't really get useful diagnostic info when there's a problem, but she will definitely notice if MPG drops because of poorer atomization with an older design.

Have to wait and see, I guess. It was getting nearly 50mpg with the original ones.
